A hosts’ guide
Things to do in Pamporovo
Eco trails, ziplines, caves, crags and an observatory — the Rhodopes around the hotel, with honest distances, gathered by the people who live here.
A year-round base
The hotel as your Rhodope basecamp
Pamporovo sits at about 1,650 m among pine forests, with around 270 sunny days a year — one of Bulgaria’s sunniest mountains. Days here fill themselves: winter belongs to the pistes, but the rest of the year the area offers an abundance of eco trails and mountain routes, crags, caves and a sky worth watching by day and by night. You leave after breakfast and come back to the pool and a home-cooked dinner — and everything below is minutes from the front desk.

The activities
Eleven reasons to leave the pool
The distances below are the ones we travel ourselves — no embellishment.

ATVs & motor sports
For those who find the mountain too slow on foot.
Summer
The trails: Pamporovo’s summer superpower
The eco trails start 5 minutes from the hotel — the shortest path into the Rhodope summer: cool air under the pines, soft ridges and marked routes for every pace. Combine them with a trip to the Smolyan lakes or the Canyon of Waterfalls near Smolyan, and finish at the Rozhen meadows. The return is always the same, and always good: pool, sauna and a home-cooked dinner.

Winter beyond skiing
A day off the piste? Still a full one
Winter in Pamporovo does not oblige you to ski. The Yagodina cave and the Devil’s Throat welcome visitors through the cold months, the Smolyan planetarium is 20 minutes away, the Rozhen observatory 15. And back at the hotel the warm pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam bath wait — included in every rate. Sometimes the best winter day is the one without boots.

Practical questions
What can we do with kids?+
The gentle trails around the resort suit little legs, the hotel pool welcomes children with an adult, and the Smolyan planetarium and the caves are a guaranteed hit. In winter add the ski schools — Pamporovo is their traditional home, with wide, gentle pistes.
What if the weather turns?+
Plan B is ready: pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam bath at the hotel, the Smolyan planetarium 20 minutes away, and the Yagodina cave and Devil’s Throat — there is no rain underground.
We have no car — what is left?+
Plenty: the eco trails start a 5-minute walk from the hotel, the ziplines are 10 minutes away, and in winter the Studenets runs are about 300 m out — with hotel transport when needed. For the farther spots, ask at reception and we will help you arrange it.
